How photos get faked
Portfolios get borrowed. Stock libraries get cropped. When we asked 120 clinics for the treating dentist’s name, the date, and the raw file, the trail often went cold. Ask for original files, intra-oral shots, and the x-ray that matches the case. Reverse-search the image if you need to.
We called 120 clinics. Seven could answer.
We contacted clinics as patients: who treats me, can you show sterilization, are these your cases, what training is behind this procedure, what is in writing if it fails at home. Seven could evidence all of it. No clinics are named. The finding is the pattern.
What to ask in writing
- The full legal name of the dentist who will sit at the chair — not the owner.
- Licence number, and the public registry to look it up.
- How many cases like yours they have personally finished.
- Implant or ceramic brand, in writing.
- The warranty: how long, what is covered, what is not.
- What records you take home, in original digital form.
